Monday

Yay for intentionality!

It is Day 1 of our first full week of summer holidays. Monday's focus is the start of a new week (new Scripture verse to learn, new library books/projects, and new songs for piano) as well as tidying up from the week-end and doing laundry.

Feeling so excited as we embarked on this journey. Today, we went to a school playground nearby, played a bit, and then had a snack (tortilla chips and guacamole, and my first attempt at home-made iced tea). Then we started our memory verse, Deuteronomy 6:5, doing it the way we'd learned it a while back, then to the tune of "Do Your Ears Hang Low" with a few actions. After that we did a simple relay race:
  • run and put a taped paper heart onto your chest
  • run and step into a hoola hoop and lift it up over your head (how do you represent a soul when it permeates your whole being?)
  • run and lift some weights 3x

My youngest didn't want to participate, so he watched. My eldest felt sheepish at one point when some boys biked by. But it was fun enough, that we did it again with me participating the second time.

There are more snack ideas, craft, and prayer ideas we may do during the week as we review the verse.

I am using a book I found at a conference called "Scripture Adventures" (K-2). We'll see how things go over the course of the summer, but so far, I'm feeling very happy with how it's started out.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength" Deut. 6:5

That sounds like fun. How has it gone since then? Focus has a great kids thing out this summer that I have yet to really sink my teeth into but looks so good, we just haven't been home long enough to do anything with it yet!

LOVE YOU
