Sleeping Beauty-fully

Just have to endorse a product here: the ObusForme memory foam mattress topper.

Or probably any memory foam mattress topper for that matter...it is amazing how much more comfortable even our ten-year-old mattress is now. And it feels luxurious while providing good support. I have been having much trouble with insomnia over the past nine months, and now even when I wake up, I'm going back to sleep much easier.

Anyways, they're on sale at Canadian Tire for $140 or so until the end of the week? Jysk also has some memory foam stuff. The Obus Forme one comes with some sort of silver compound mixed in for antibacterial/microbial properties and comes with a very nice hypo-allergenic cover.

We got introduced to memory foam at Sleep Country (which I also highly recommend for great service...ask for Nathan at the McPhillips store) and couldn't afford the whole bed...but even two inches makes a huge difference!

So go out and start sleeping beautifully!

Monday

Moving moving moving

Decided today that I don't want to move our basic necessities over to the new house, but will rather wait until our house is sold and then go all at once. Spent an afternoon there and it's just too chaotic and just not my home yet. I know it will feel that way even once we move fully, but at least then everything will be there. Got our new mattress today. After ten years, it's time for a new one! At least Rod will get a decent bed while he sleeps in the new house now.

Just found out this week that one just-getting-to-know-friend is moving to another province and another long-time-friend is moving the other direction. While I'm excited for them in the adventures God is taking them on, I'm sad and feeling at a loss.

Once again, I am reminded of the need to take time for relationships: for knowing and being known. As I head into a new season, this reminder only affirms my desire to develop greater skill in and priority for hospitality.

Waiting and Seeing

Looks like we're still waiting for a buyer. Major disappointment, but God is good. I think we've figured out how we can live at our new house while still keeping this one looking lived in. So, the plan is to move our necessities over as soon as is possible and go from there.

On another note, I had my first ultrasound ever and got a glimpse of our baby. Everything seems as it should be...all my worries in the early months were unfounded. Highlights were seeing the baby's eyes (eyeholes really), and lots of the arms, legs, hands and feet. Even looked like baby was praying!! Pretty amazing stuff.

Sunday

And Can it Be?

We may have a buyer...I'll keep you posted.

Saturday

Housing Update

Well, we now own a total of three buildings: one studio, one new house and one very old house. We got our walk-through and keys on Friday. It was overwhelming the care the builders are putting into our house. It was wonderful to see it finished and the kids were so excited. The urgency for us to sell our house and get into the new one has definitely increased!

It's becoming more apparent to me how much stress this has put on our family this past year and particularly this past summer. We took some time this week for bits of relaxation: one evening at Kildonan Park during some showings and one afternoon at Grand Beach. It is so nice to get away into God's creation! When we do, we notice how different it is from the way we are typically feeling at any given moment.

It's also becoming more apparent to me how much Rod and I need need need some down-time together. Life has been too crazy and we haven't built in that time. I hope we can learn to do this more regularly and that we get some closure soon: sell, move and finish renovating the studio. It's just too draining long-term.

Tuesday

Kicking back

Life has been a little stressful lately. This afternoon, though, was lovely. The kids and I kicked back on our neighbour's steps and looked up through the green leaves to the blue blue sky and the whispy white clouds. It was a bit of heaven.
